Despite the reticence of your lady, I have heard much of your exploits in the occupation. Every justice you've inflicted upon our enemies in the name of Zarus has brightened the light of His glory in our realm. I'm told you work with a truly singular fervor and devotion, and I find that commitment admirable beyond measure. In fact, it became something of a happy routine for my advisors and me to listen with rapturous attention as my informants relayed tale after tale of the truly delicious ironies you've made of lesser beings in the name of Zarus.
Your lady, the Sixth, wishes to keep a firm hand upon you (for which I could never blame her), but she can't resist the will of the council. I managed to force the issue of your recruition and we voted unanimously (her excepted, of course) to extend to you an offer to join as an exclusive operative of the Stoic Society. Should you accept, your lady has promised no ill will, and I assure you that you will have only ever more opportunities to worship Zarus in the way you so love to do. And should you decline, that, too, is of no concern; offers to join The Society are made for life and can never be rescinded. Should you ever have a change of heart, you will always find our doors open to you. Keep in mind: the eleven of us combined wield tremendous political power, with endless resources at our disposal, and our list of undesirables could occupy a man for a lifetime. You shall never want for blood under our aegis.
Do pay me a visit any time, either in the guildhalls of The Society or upon my own private estate. It is my true desire to see a reverent man such as yourself richly and rightly rewarded for his service, whether or not you accept this role. I assure you that there is no end to the delights a creative and forceful man like you could find amongst my many treasures. Why, I can hear the cries of one such treasure as I write, bidding me to quicken my pen.
Write back at any time. I believe our partnership could be fruitful and bounteous.
Kindest regards,
Bishop Hewelin Reeve,
The First,
Stoic Society.
